NFL bars two former pros from signing with teams for 2026 season
The league announced that tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris are ineligible to try out for, visit, or be signed by any NFL franchise during the 2026 season.
The NFL issued a memo to all clubs on Wednesday stating that tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris cannot participate in tryouts, meetings, or contracts with any team for the 2026 season. Both players had previously received clearance to join Louisiana State University after brief stints with NFL teams, but they were not ultimately rostered by the university. Their ineligibility comes amid ongoing legislative discussions about a federal antitrust exemption for major college sports, a proposal sometimes referred to as the Protect College Sports Act. The league’s decision reflects its interest in maintaining the current relationship between college football and the NFL’s talent pipeline.
