Google releases Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 for Pixel lineup

Résumé

Google has rolled out the fifth beta of Android 17 QPR2 to a wide range of Pixel devices, fixing multiple bugs and stability issues.

Google began distributing the Android 17 QPR2 Beta 5 update to Pixel smartphones, tablets and the Android Emulator, marking the latest two-week release cycle. The update is available for devices including the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7 series, Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8 series, Pixel 9 series, Pixel 10 series, Pixel 11 series and newer models.

Beta 5 addresses a series of reported problems: a Bluetooth device-type change no longer updates its icon, a stability issue that could cause unexpected reboots during continuous scrolling in media-rich apps, and a bug where the volume slider UI fails to appear when hardware buttons are used while casting. It also resolves a text-rendering glitch that added background highlights in search fields, a navigation routing error that blocked Private Space from unlocking, and an HDR mode that remained active despite being turned off.

Additional fixes include a touchscreen freeze when launching Google Wallet via the power-button shortcut, camera crashes during panorama processing, and audio noise or distortion after calls. The update also corrects Bluetooth audio distortion after call completion.

"You can report issues via the Android Beta Feedback app on Pixel devices," Google advises, noting that the app is accessible from the application drawer or Quick Settings and that bugs are filed in the company’s issue tracker. A community for beta testers exists on Reddit.

The build numbers are CP41.260828.005.A6 for the Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet, and CP41.260828.004.A8 for all other supported devices.
