Analysts suggest that releasing an iOS 27.1 beta now could have exposed unreleased details about the iPhone Duo. By starting with iOS 27.2, Apple can limit such references in early testing builds. The two codebases are expected to merge later, though the timeline remains unclear. The iPhone Duo is scheduled to launch on Friday, October 23.
