Representative Refutes Unverified Reports on Hayden Panettiere's Death
A spokesperson for Hayden Panettiere said claims that the actress died from a fentanyl-laced oxycodone pill are unverified, and that the coroner’s office is still awaiting toxicology results.
A spokesperson for actress Hayden Panettiere issued a statement rejecting recent media reports that she died after taking a fentanyl-contaminated oxycodone pill. The representative said the Greenville County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death remains under investigation pending toxicology results, and that rumors attributed to unnamed sources are unverified.
"As reported yesterday by the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Hayden’s death remains under investigation pending the completion of toxicology results, despite reports from some outlets stating otherwise," the spokesperson said.
"Recent reports attributed to unnamed sources are unverified hearsay and have attributed to conflicting information that continues to circulate," the statement added.
The spokesperson urged patience while the investigative process continues, noting that answers will emerge in due course.
Earlier reports from a tabloid outlet suggested that Panettiere had consumed an oxycodone pill laced with fentanyl, a synthetic opioid, after purchasing drugs from a dealer in Los Angeles. Federal agents had previously searched her Los Angeles home for evidence of drug use. On August 16, she was found unresponsive in a South Carolina Airbnb, where emergency responders attempted resuscitation before she was pronounced dead at age 36.
