Mikayla Matthews Leaves Hulu's 'The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives' Over Co-Star's Return

Résumé

Reality-TV participant Mikayla Matthews announced she will exit season 6 of Hulu’s series after learning that former cast member Taylor Frankie Paul is returning to filming.

Mikayla Matthews said she will not continue with season 6 of Hulu’s reality series after being informed that former participant Taylor Frankie Paul is slated to re-join the production. Matthews posted on Instagram Stories that she had told producers before agreeing to season 6 that she would withdraw if Paul returned, citing ethical concerns involving children on the show.

She added that recent video footage and other information about Paul’s past behavior raised questions for her, and that she had not previously been aware of the full extent of the issues. Matthews said she filmed the early part of season 6 only because Paul was not present with the other cast members, but she stopped filming once she learned of Paul’s return.

Matthews emphasized that re-watching season 5 did not affect her decision, noting that the environment depicted on the series could be distressing for participants. She stated she will honor existing contractual obligations for material already filmed but will not take part in any further episodes.
