Texas quarterback Arch Manning apologizes for AI video comment about coach and reporter

Résumé

Quarterback Arch Manning issued a public apology after describing an AI-generated video of Texas coach Steve Sarkisian slapping ESPN reporter Holly Rowe as “hilarious,” acknowledging the remark was insensitive.

Quarterback Arch Manning apologized on Tuesday for a remark made at a Monday press conference in which he described an artificial-intelligence video depicting Texas coach Steve Sarkisian slapping ESPN sideline reporter Holly Rowe as “hilarious.”

Manning said he had seen “a few AI edits” and referenced the clip, calling it “a good one.” The comment drew criticism for trivializing the violent depiction of the reporter.

In a social-media post, Manning wrote, “In my press conference yesterday, I made an insensitive comment about an AI video. There is nothing funny about it. I know my words and actions were hurtful to a lot of people. I am deeply sorry.” He added a direct apology to Rowe, noting his respect for her and thanking her for her grace.

Rowe publicly accepted the apology.
