Amazon to End Prime Invitee Program, Restricting Free Shipping to Household Members
Amazon will discontinue its Prime Invitee program on October 1, limiting free shipping benefits to members within the same household through the Amazon Family program.
Amazon has announced the termination of its Prime Invitee program, effective October 1, 2025. This program previously allowed Prime members to share free shipping benefits with individuals outside their household. Moving forward, Amazon will promote its Amazon Family program, which permits sharing of Prime benefits among members residing at the same primary address. Under Amazon Family, a household can include up to two adults, four teens (added before April 7, 2025), and four child profiles. Shared benefits encompass fast, free delivery, Prime Video access, Prime Reading, and exclusive deals. This change aligns with Amazon's efforts to encourage individual Prime memberships and follows a reported decline in new Prime sign-ups during the recent Prime Day event.
