Two car-content influencers killed in Irvine McLaren crash

Summary

James Wehr, 27, and Lexi Kramer, 22, died when a 2019 McLaren crashed and caught fire on Culver Drive in Irvine, California, early on September 13.

Two social-media personalities who posted car-related content were killed in a high-speed crash involving a 2019 McLaren supercar in Irvine, California, on the night of September 13. Irvine Police said the vehicle lost control northbound on Culver Drive at Deerfield Avenue, struck a curb and a tree, split in two and ignited, requiring firefighters to extinguish the flames before the victims could be identified.

The victims were identified as James Wehr, 27, a well-known local car-enthusiast and co-founder of the South OC Cars and Coffee meet-up, and Lexi Kramer, 22, who had traveled from Florida to attend one of his events.

"I was about to go to bed, and then I heard a big like, skrrrr and then a big boom. Me and my friends come out. Ginormous fire … The whole car is just gone," said an eyewitness who spoke to a local TV station.

Family members confirmed the identities and expressed condolences. A relative of Kramer said she had flown to California to meet Wehr and shared that she was involved in the automotive and motorcycle community.

The police department posted a statement on social media confirming the preliminary findings and asked for privacy for the families as they process the loss.
