Trump's approval rating climbs to 35% in latest Reuters/Ipsos poll

Résumé

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows President Donald Trump's approval rating rose to 35%, up two points, while a majority of Americans disapproved of his $5,000 dividend proposal.

President Donald Trump’s approval rating increased to 35% in a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Sept. 14, a two-point rise from the early-September survey. The poll, which surveyed 1,143 U.S. adults over four days with a margin of error of ±3 percentage points, found the president’s support had rebounded after three weeks of record lows since his return to office in 2025.

Despite the modest gain, the party’s standing did not improve; a generic congressional ballot showed Democrats leading Republicans by seven points, the widest gap recorded in Trump’s second term. The poll also revealed strong disapproval of Trump’s proposal to give a $5,000 dividend to every American if Republicans controlled Congress after the midterm elections, with 63% of respondents opposing the plan, including 40% of Republicans and 90% of Democrats.

Economic concerns such as rising gas prices, which have topped $4.30 per gallon, and ongoing geopolitical tensions were cited as factors influencing public sentiment. Aggregated polling averages from sources like RealClearPolitics, The New York Times and the Silver Bulletin continue to place Trump in negative territory overall.
