Taylor Swift makes cameo in Emmy Awards' Law & Order parody sketch
Taylor Swift appeared in a comedic Law & Order-style sketch during the Emmy Awards, joining actress Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T in a mock investigation about her presence at the ceremony.
Taylor Swift and her cat, a Scottish Fold named Olivia Benson, joined Mariska Hargitay, who portrays Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, for a surprise cameo during the Emmy Awards on Monday night. The sketch referenced Hargitay’s role as host of the ceremony and featured a mock SVU office where Benson demanded to know whether Swift would attend the Emmys.
In the bit, Swift, dressed in a grey power suit, questioned the logic of the investigation, prompting Ice-T to reply, “Our perp has a clear M.O. A lot of this doesn’t fit the pattern, and I don’t think everything is a clue.” Benson responded, “It is to the Swifties.” Swift then listed a series of unrelated words—“saccharide, Aries, from the vineyard, north or south”—as possible clues.
The sketch suggested that Swift would likely stay home with her cats, one of which shares the name Olivia Benson. Hargitay, standing beside Swift holding the cat, said, “Wait, I’m Olivia Benson.” The dialogue also referenced the Kansas City Chiefs game scheduled for the evening, with Ice-T noting, “Well, if she’s not there, I’m not watching.”
The segment concluded with the series’ signature music, a brief cheek-to-cheek pose between Swift and Hargitay, and Swift confirming she would not perform at the awards, despite The Eras Tour being nominated for multiple Emmys.
