Arch Manning laughs about AI video of Texas coach slapping reporter during press conference

Résumé

Quarterback Arch Manning said he saw an AI-generated clip of Texas coach Steve Sarkisian appearing to slap reporter Holly Rowe and laughed about it at a post-game press conference.

Quarterback Arch Manning, who led Texas to a comeback win over Ohio State, told reporters on Monday that he had watched an artificial-intelligence-generated video that showed head coach Steve Sarkisian appearing to slap ESPN reporter Holly Rowe. Manning said the clip made him laugh and he pointed to it during the press conference.

"Of him slapping Holly Rowe," Manning said, adding that he had seen the AI edit and found it amusing.

The AI-generated video, which has circulated online, depicts a fabricated scene of Sarkisian striking the reporter, a moment that never occurred in reality. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian had earlier declined to comment to Rowe after the game.

Manning’s remarks came as the Longhorns rose to the top of the Associated Press poll following the victory, and his comments have drawn attention to the growing prevalence of AI-created media content and the challenges it poses for public figures.
