Google confirmed that pre-orders for its upcoming Googlebook laptops will begin on September 21 at 9 a.m. ET, with devices expected from several major manufacturers.

Google has set September 21 at 9 a.m. Eastern Time as the start of pre-orders for its new Googlebook laptops, according to an email sent to users. The company said the initial lineup will include models from partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo, though specific configurations have not yet been disclosed.

The Googlebooks are marketed as premium laptops built for the "intelligence system" era and will run on a new Android-based stack rather than ChromeOS. Google highlighted features that rely on its Gemini AI, including a "Magic Pointer" that provides direct access to Gemini and the ability to generate custom widgets by describing them.

Google also emphasized integration with Android phones, allowing users to launch phone apps on the laptop and access phone-stored files. A dedicated website now displays the Googlebook branding, teaser images and the pre-order date, but the official name of the operating system powering the devices has not been announced.

"Googlebooks will be the perfect companion for Android phones," a Google spokesperson said.

Analysts note that the devices will enter a crowded laptop market, where competitors are introducing new hardware such as RTX Spark-powered models amid rising RAM costs.
