Clearer turbulence levels and a more accessible app

The 1.6.x updates in June were about clarity: say the same thing the same way everywhere, and make it easier for everyone to read.

One scale for turbulence

The Turbulence Index summarizes how stormy the news is. Until now, different places described its levels with slightly different names. Now web, iOS and Android all use one set of level names, and the same names appear in our social posts and videos. When you hear that turbulence is at a certain level, it means the same thing wherever you read it.

Easier to read and use

We went through the iOS and Android apps with accessibility in mind:

  • better labels for screen readers, so controls and cards are announced clearly;
  • support for larger system text sizes;
  • improved contrast in text and controls;
  • respect for the Reduce Motion setting, so animations stay out of the way.

These are practical improvements rather than a badge. We will keep adding to them.

A clearer subscription screen

The FL Plus screen in both apps was redesigned. It explains what the plan includes in plain language, so you can decide without hunting for details.

How to try it

Update to the latest version of FactsLane on iOS or Android. The accessibility options follow your device settings, so there is nothing to switch on in the app.
