Leclerc blames Mexico circuit, Vasseur rejects excuse after Ferrari clash
Charles Leclerc said the Mexico City circuit’s layout was to blame for his first-lap clash with Lewis Hamilton, while Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur responded that the track design could not excuse the lost victory. Lewis Hamilton had earlier called for serious internal discussions within Ferrari after the incident and criticised Leclerc’s aggressive tactics for costing a potential 1-2 finish.
Leclerc also acknowledged that both drivers exceeded the limits at Turn 4 and accepted a five-second penalty that handed the win to Max Verstappen. Vasseur previously described the first-lap battle as a lack of respect and said the team would hold a sit-down before the next race.
