Amit Shah Urges Rahul Gandhi to Take Debate to Parliament
Union Home Minister Amit Shah urged Rahul Gandhi to take his demand for a parliamentary debate with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Parliament, and criticised the Congress for calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Earlier, Shah announced that the government would convene a special parliamentary session to address opposition allegations of vote-theft and the removal of alleged infiltrators from the electoral roll during the Special Intensive Revision. He likened the opposition’s claims to blaming a cricket umpire and invited them to discuss the issue in Parliament.
Shah and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman later urged Gandhi to accept the proposed session, while Gandhi reiterated his request for a discussion with Modi. At rallies in Delhi and Haryana, Shah criticised Gandhi’s stance on the roll revisions and linked the opposition’s recent electoral defeats to their allegations. The BJP also launched an intensive narrative campaign ahead of the Uttar Pradesh elections, deploying senior leaders for padyatras to counter opposition narratives on the electoral roll.
