Argonauts host Blue Bombers in CFL East semifinal
Toronto and Winnipeg, both 9-9, meet at BMO Field on Saturday with a spot in the East final at stake, while Winnipeg starts backup quarterback Dru Brown after Zach Collaros' injury.
The Toronto Argonauts will welcome the Winnipeg Blue Bombers to BMO Field for the CFL East semifinal on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. Both clubs entered the postseason with identical 9-9 records and will compete for a place in the East final against the Montreal Alouettes on Nov. 7.
Winnipeg will start backup quarterback Dru Brown, who replaced injured starter Zach Collaros in the previous game and completed two touchdown passes. Brown will need to manage the offense against a Toronto defense that aims to apply early pressure.
Toronto quarterback Chad Kelly, who led the Argonauts to a 30-28 regular-season win over Winnipeg, will look to exploit the Bombers' secondary with his deep-ball capability. The Argonauts' offensive line will also be tested by Winnipeg's defensive front, anchored by veterans Willie Jefferson and Jake Ceresna.
Running back Brady Oliveira, listed as questionable with an ankle injury, remains a key factor for Winnipeg's ground game. If limited, the Bombers may rely more heavily on the passing attack.
The winner advances to Montreal, while the loser’s season ends. Weather forecasts call for mostly sunny conditions and a high of 14 °C at the venue.
