ESPN reported that veteran broadcaster Ernie Johnson announced he will step down as host of "Inside the NBA" after the current season, while remaining on other sports broadcasts in the United States. The decision ends his 37-year run on the program.
Earlier, Bleacher Report had said Johnson planned to leave the show after the 2026-27 season and to launch a new production company, while continuing his broader broadcasting duties. Bleacher Report’s earlier report noted that the host intended to transition out of the role following the 2026-27 campaign and to focus on a new production venture, maintaining his involvement in other sports coverage.
