The New York Times released the answers and a hint for its Strands puzzle No. 971, dated Friday, Oct. 30, 2026. The puzzle’s theme is described as “All charged up,” with the accompanying hint urging solvers to “Find an outlet.”
To aid players, a list of clue words that can trigger in-game hints was shared: CITY, COWER, PANT, SPAR, COPE, NICE and DICE. Finding any three words of four letters or more unlocks one of the theme words.
The complete set of non-spangram answers that fit the electricity-related theme includes JUICE, ELECTRICITY, POWER, SPARK, ENERGY and CURRENT. The spangram for the puzzle was also announced, completing the solution set for today’s game.
