At least 12 Injured in Shooting Near Florida A&M Stadium During Homecoming
Police say an altercation led to a mass shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium, leaving 12 people injured, including six juveniles.
At least 12 people were wounded in a shooting near Florida A&M University's Bragg Memorial Stadium on Oct. 24, Tallahassee police said. The incident occurred just before 8 p.m. ET, shortly after the conclusion of the Rattlers' football game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and prompted a campus safety alert that instructed students and visitors to shelter in place.
Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell reported that three victims are in serious condition, one of them critical, while the remaining nine are stable. The injured include five adults, six juveniles—the youngest 11 years old—and a grandmother who was hurt while fleeing the scene. A Florida A&M student was among those shot.
Revell described the event as an "isolated incident" involving a dispute between two or three individuals and said no arrests have been made. He asked anyone with information to contact the police department or the Crime Solvers hotline.
"We hurt with you, and we will continue to get you the answers you so desperately want," Revell said, adding that no family should have to endure such violence.
First responders were credited with quickly moving victims to safety despite uncertainty about the shooters' whereabouts. The university issued a statement expressing condolences and confirming that the campus remains safe, while urging people to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
