Texas rallies to defeat No. 7 Ole Miss 34-27 after second-half comeback
The Texas Longhorns overcame a 24-3 deficit to beat No. 7 Ole Miss 34-27, with quarterback Arch Manning and coach Steve Sarkisian responding in the fourth quarter.
Texas held a 24-3 lead early in the game against No. 7 Ole Miss but allowed the Rebels to score 21 unanswered points to take a 27-24 advantage late in the third quarter. The Longhorns managed only 19 yards in the third quarter while Ole Miss added two touchdowns.
In the fourth quarter, Texas scored a touchdown and a field goal to regain the lead. Arch Manning, who threw two interceptions during the game, said, "I was pacing, saying a few prayers. Our defense came up clutch, that's what it's all about."
Ole Miss attempted a late comeback, converting a field goal and recovering an onside kick, but a pass intended for Trinidad Chambliss was intercepted by a Texas defender, sealing the victory.
Texas next faces Missouri and LSU in the coming weeks, with the performance of its offense under scrutiny.
