Clark County Coroner Identifies 1980s Murder Victim from Lake Mead Barrel
The Clark County coroner announced on 16 October that the remains recovered from a barrel in Lake Mead have been identified as Edward “Buddy” Jackson, an Arkansas man murdered in the early 1980s. The identification resulted from DNA and genealogical analysis that officials began after the bones were found in the drum in 2022.
Earlier reports from CBS, NBC and the BBC had said the victim was Edward Lelburian Jackson, an Arkansas resident killed in the 1980s, and that Las Vegas Metropolitan Police were involved in the investigation. The case remains unsolved as investigators continue to seek the perpetrator.
