Paramount's 'Street Fighter' earns $4M in Thursday previews, A24 documentary draws $2M
Paramount's adaptation of the video game 'Street Fighter' generated about $4 million in Thursday preview screenings, while A24's documentary 'You Can See Everything' earned roughly $2 million.
Paramount and Legendary's PG-13 adaptation of Capcom's 'Street Fighter' began preview showings at 2 p.m. on Thursday, pulling in approximately $4 million, according to industry sources. The film, which cost a net $82 million and is co-financed by Legendary and Capcom, is projected to open with more than $30 million domestically. Its preview earnings fall below the $5.2 million Thursday preview total recorded by New Line's R-rated 'Mortal Kombat 2', which debuted earlier this month.
The documentary 'You Can See Everything', produced by A24, opened preview screenings at 3 p.m. and earned about $2 million. Co-directed by Lance Oppenheim and featuring host Nathan Fielder, the film follows former Theranos CEO Elizabeth Holmes during her time in federal prison. The documentary, shot over four years with a production budget under $10 million, holds a 100 % fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 98 % audience score. Analysts had expected a high-single-digit opening, but confidence has risen that the film could exceed $10 million, potentially surpassing the opening record for a documentary set by Amazon MGM Studios' 'Melania'.
