Apple launches HomeView hub and updates smart-home lineup

सारांश

Apple introduced the HomeView wall-mounted hub, priced from $299, alongside refreshed HomePod and Apple TV models and new accessories from LG and Schneider Electric.

Apple unveiled a new series of smart-home products on Tuesday, headlined by the HomeView hub, a 7-inch, wall-mountable device that integrates doorbells, thermostats and smart locks. The HomeView, which starts at $299, will begin shipping on 13 November after pre-orders opened today. It incorporates an upgraded Siri AI that draws on personal data from iPhone apps to deliver more contextual responses while emphasizing privacy and security.

The launch coincided with refreshed versions of the HomePod speaker and Apple TV, as well as a range of accessories—including doorbells, cameras and thermostats—produced by LG and Schneider Electric and designed in collaboration with Apple. All devices are managed through the Apple Home app, which also controls a new smart lock that can be opened via the app.

Apple noted that the HomeView will not be sold in the European Union because Siri AI is currently unavailable there due to regional regulations. The company highlighted that the new Siri version, described in a press release as “powered by Apple Intelligence,” aims to improve conversational ability and relevance compared with earlier iterations.

Analysts observe that Apple continues to expand its smart-home ecosystem to compete with established platforms such as Amazon’s Echo and Google Home, while also addressing past challenges related to third-party device compatibility and Siri’s limited answer quality.
