Cyberattack on French Supermarket Refrigeration Systems Triggers Fires and Spoilage
Paris prosecutors opened an investigation after a cyberattack on internet-connected refrigeration controllers at around 700 French supermarkets caused temperature spikes, spoiled food and several fires. Earlier reports said hackers accessed the systems of major chains including Intermarché, Coopérative U and Carrefour, forcing defrost cycles that flooded stores and led to tens of millions of euros in losses. The attack first targeted Danfoss equipment and a day later Dixell units, according to French media, and was described as a coordinated effort that raised temperatures across hundreds of outlets.
