Verstappen clinches first Singapore Grand Prix victory
Max Verstappen secured his first Singapore Grand Prix win, his second straight victory, and widened his championship lead, finishing ahead of Charles Leclerc and Kimi Antonelli while Lewis Hamilton placed sixth. Earlier in the weekend, Mercedes driver George Russell topped the sole practice session, posting the fastest lap as Red Bull’s Max Verstappen led on medium tyres. Verstappen later claimed pole position for the race, while Russell received an engine penalty that dropped him to the back of the grid.
In the sprint race, Russell led at the start but crashed on lap two, prompting a safety-car period. The results set Red Bull aiming to maintain momentum heading into the United States Grand Prix.
