Polish PM links school stabbings to online extremist content
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the recent school knife attacks were largely spontaneous acts inspired by extremist content on the internet, as police detained more than a hundred suspects. The wave of attacks began on 6 October when a 15-year-old former pupil killed a caretaker and wounded two staff members at a primary school near Warsaw.
A second stabbing two days later left a woman injured three people, prompting authorities to detain 76 individuals and review nearly 50,000 schools nationwide. An emergency meeting of the internal security agency was also convened after a tip about a possible plot against Tusk and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
