Cornell bans fraternity parties as faculty senate challenges president
Cornell University announced a university-wide ban on fraternity house parties and gave the New York State Police authority to investigate sexual crimes on campus, officials said. The move came after faculty senators debated a no-confidence resolution against President Michael Kotlikoff over the university’s handling of a revived 2024 fraternity sexual-assault lawsuit, NBC News reported. Students had earlier staged a sit-in demanding independent investigations, the governor appointed a special prosecutor, and the alleged victim faced death threats and a swatting incident.
