FBI arrests Canadian cyber executive in Pennsylvania over ShinyHunters hack
The FBI detained Canadian cybersecurity executive Edward Dubrovsky in Pennsylvania on charges of conspiracy to extort and interfere with commerce, part of its ongoing probe of the ShinyHunters hacking group. Earlier, the bureau removed an Accenture contractor after a missed security patch allowed ShinyHunters to steal personal data from the agency's employment website. An internal FBI review found the contractor’s failure to apply the patch caused the breach, prompting the contractor’s dismissal and a broader investigation that later led to Dubrovsky’s arrest.
