Chester County health department warns of measles exposure at three stores
The Chester County Health Department warned on Oct 9 that a contagious measles case had visited two CVS pharmacies and a Giant grocery store on Oct 4, urging anyone who was in the stores that day to verify their vaccination status or seek MMR immunization. The alert comes as Pennsylvania grapples with its largest measles outbreak in three decades. The state health department said more than 1,000 cases have been confirmed across 39 counties, resulting in five deaths and nearly 200 hospitalizations.
Chester County alone had recorded 83 cases, prompting officials to expand education, organize vaccination clinics and deliver over 1,200 MMR doses. Earlier in the week, Oxford Area High School was closed after a confirmed case, with staff vaccination records being reviewed.
