Rock and blues singer Sass Jordan dies at 63 after cancelling tour for health reasons
Canadian rock and blues vocalist Sass Jordan died at age 63, a month after canceling the remainder of her 2026 tour due to a serious medical condition.
Sass Jordan, a Canadian rock and blues singer whose career spanned four decades, died on Oct. 2, 2026, at the age of 63, her family announced on her Facebook page. The family said she passed away surrounded by loved ones; the cause of death has not been disclosed.
In September, Jordan’s management issued a statement that she had to cancel the rest of her 2026 tour because of a serious medical condition and would focus on recovery. The statement apologized for any inconvenience to fans and thanked them for their understanding.
Jordan, born in Birmingham, England and raised in Montreal, released ten albums, beginning with her 1988 debut "Tell Somebody," which earned her a Juno Award for Most Promising Female Vocalist in 1989. Her 1992 album "Racine" produced several international hits, and her 2020 blues release "Rebel Moon Blues" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Blues chart. She also served as a judge on "Canadian Idol" for six seasons and portrayed Janis Joplin in the stage production "Love, Janis."
"She was a powerhouse bluesy vocalist," wrote musician Ronnie Lyon on Facebook.
Broadcaster Eddie Trunk said, "I had her on my show several times for various projects. Very talented singer and very nice person."
Fans and fellow artists posted tributes on social media, expressing grief and recalling her influence on their careers.
