Commanders expect quarterback Jayden Daniels to start in Week 5 after injury recovery
Quarterback Jayden Daniels, who missed Week 4 with a dislocated elbow, was listed as a full participant in practice and is slated to start against the New York Giants in Week 5.
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was observed throwing during Wednesday's practice and was designated a full participant ahead of the team's Week 5 matchup with the New York Giants. Offensive coordinator David Blough said Daniels is "full go" for the contest, indicating he will start.
Daniels missed the Week 4 game in London against the Indianapolis Colts after being ruled out with the elbow injury sustained in Week 2. Backup quarterback Marcus Mariota also left that game with a knee injury, forcing third-string rookie Athan Kaliakmanis to play, which resulted in a 30-13 loss.
Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters the team hoped Daniels would be ready for the Giants game and confirmed the quarterback would receive all practice repetitions and start. Quinn noted that Daniels had expressed a desire to play in Week 4, but the team chose a cautious approach.
The Commanders also expect wide receiver Terry McLaurin to return in Week 5 after sitting out recent practices. Daniels previously dealt with the same elbow injury last season and was removed from his first game back after aggravating it, so the team will monitor his condition closely.
