Cowboys activate Joey Porter Jr. for game vs Texans
The Dallas Cowboys activated cornerback Joey Porter Jr. for their game against the Houston Texans, even though he was not listed on the injury report, NBC Sports reported. The activation follows a trade earlier this season that sent the former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back to Dallas in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round and a 2028 second-round draft pick, CBS Sports said. Contract negotiations between Porter and the Steelers had stalled, leading to the deal, DK Pittsburgh Sports reported.
Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy described the late-night transaction as a business move rather than a factor in game preparation, NBC Sports noted. Negotiations also reduced the Steelers’ original asking price, NBC Sports added. The trade drew mixed reactions, with some league insiders praising the move while many Steelers fans voiced criticism, the New York Times reported.
