Alec Bohm hit a go-ahead home run in the 10th inning and rookie reliever Andrew Painter threw three scoreless innings as Philadelphia defeated Atlanta 4-3 to even the NL wild-card series.

Alec Bohm delivered a decisive solo home run in the 10th inning of Game 2 of the National League wild-card series, giving the Philadelphia Phillies a 4-3 lead over the Atlanta Braves. The hit came after the Phillies had trailed 3-1 in the elimination game. Rookie right-hander Andrew Painter, making his postseason debut, entered in relief and pitched three consecutive scoreless innings, sealing the victory.

Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sánchez started the game, allowing a run in the first inning but settling down to work 6 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and three earned runs. The Braves responded early, tying the game at 1-1 after Ronald Acuña Jr. stole second and third and scored on a Matt Olson single. Atlanta later took a 3-1 lead in the seventh when Drake Baldwin hit an RBI double and a subsequent sac fly scored Ha-Seong Kim.

Philadelphia answered with back-to-back solo homers in the bottom of the seventh: Kyle Schwarber’s 447-foot shot followed by Bryce Harper’s 418-foot blast, tying the game at 3-3. In the extra inning, Bohm’s opposite-field home run provided the winning margin.

Painter struck out the final batter with a 99-mph fastball that clipped the inside edge of the zone for a called third strike, completing the Phillies’ comeback. The win forced a decisive Game 3 in the best-of-three series.
