No. 8 BYU hosted Iowa State in night showdown
No. 8 BYU hosted Iowa State on night at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, with kickoff at p. m. MDT and the contest broadcast on ESPN, Deseret News reported. Iowa State head coach Jimmy Rogers praised BYU’s Kalani Sitake and quarterback Bear Bachmeier while noting the Cyclones’ travel challenges, and senior running back LJ Martin was listed as doubtful after a lower-leg injury, both according to Deseret News.
Earlier, BYU entered the game after a narrow 17-10 win over TCU despite injuries and penalties, preparing for the Cyclones, Deseret News said. TCU had fallen to 0-2 in Big 12 play after a 17-10 loss to BYU, with coach Sonny Dykes citing offensive struggles, also reported by Deseret News. Prior to that, Dykes said TCU held a players-only meeting before facing BYU, citing confidence and execution issues, deseret. com noted. BYU had traveled to Fort Worth for a Big 12 matchup with TCU earlier in the season, Deseret News added.
