Samsung outlines update policy for older Galaxy models
Samsung said its newest One UI 9 update will be delivered to flagship Galaxy devices launched in 2024 and later, while older models will remain on earlier software versions but continue receiving security patches through 2027. The rollout began earlier this month with the Android 17-based One UI 9 reaching the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra, adding AI-driven camera tracking, expanded quick-panel customization and new privacy alerts (androidcentral. com). Samsung then widened distribution to unlocked S26 phones across the United States after an initial limited release for T-Mobile users (9to5Google). A worldwide stable release followed, with further models scheduled for staggered launches (9to5Google). The company also started pushing the update to the Galaxy S25 series and carrier-locked S25 variants in the U.
S. (SamMobile) and to additional devices such as the Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7 and certain S25 models (9to5Google). In South Korea the update was rolled out to the Galaxy S24 line and the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6, beginning with beta participants (9to5Google). Android Police reports that the update introduces tools like My FanCam, customizable Quick Settings, enhanced privacy indicators and native PDF support (Android Police). Engadget notes expanded Good Lock, Home Up customization and other personalization options (Engadget).
