NBC Sports Releases Full Day-Two Wild Card Schedule for 2026 MLB Playoffs
NBC Sports reported that on September 30, the second day of the 2026 MLB Wild Card round featured four games: the Phillies versus the Braves, the White Sox versus the Astros, the Red Sox versus the Yankees, and the Cubs versus the Padres. The schedule had been unveiled the day before, when MLB announced on September 29 that all Wild Card Series games would be shown exclusively on NBC, Peacock and NBCSN under a three-year media rights agreement, according to Awful Announcing. NBC Sports later confirmed that the series would begin on September 29 with four best-of-three matchups and a primetime Red Sox-Yankees game.
The Chicago Sun-Times said the first two games of the Cubs and White Sox series would air on Peacock and NBC Sports Network, requiring a subscription. Awful Announcing added that MLB released the broadcast crews, and NBC detailed the play-by-play and analyst teams for each game. NBC Sports also noted that analysts pointed out the significance of the early pitching duel between the Cubs and the Padres in the opening game.
