USC radio announcer criticized for downplaying Dante Moore’s concussion
Fox News reported that USC radio play-by-play announcer Pete Arbogast drew criticism after his on-air description of the targeting hit on Oregon quarterback Dante Moore was judged inaccurate and to have downplayed the severity of the concussion. Yahoo Sports noted that Oregon defeated USC 41-27, with backup quarterback Dylan Raiola stepping in for the injured Moore and delivering a strong performance. Earlier, PennLive. com said former NFL analyst Chris Simms apologized on X for his halftime comments about Moore’s concussion, acknowledging his remarks were mishandled.
NBC Sports reported that Moore suffered a head injury during a slide in the game and was taken by ambulance to Los Angeles General Hospital, where he was reported to be moving. ESPN announced that USC linebacker Desman Stephens II received a one-game suspension for the targeting penalty that resulted in Moore’s concussion, a decision also covered by AL. com.
