Chris Hansen denounces A24’s “Primetime” as fictionalized portrayal
On 1 October, former “Dateline” host Chris Hansen said the A24 thriller “Primetime,” which premiered in Venice, is a completely fictionalized portrayal that exploits his name and that he may consider legal action, Variety reported. He had first offered a brief reaction after a private screening on 25 September, calling the movie unrealistic and detached from his real investigations, a view also noted by Deadline.
The film, in which Robert Pattinson plays Hansen, was described by Slate as part of the actor’s busy release slate, and Variety said it opened in the United States with a $19. 2 million debut, the studio’s third-best opening.
