United Methodist Church launches probe of former New Jersey lieutenant governor
The United Methodist Church has opened a formal investigation into Rev. Dale Caldwell, the former New Jersey lieutenant governor, the New Jersey Globe reported. Governor Mikie Sherrill had earlier given Caldwell a deadline to resign after a state investigation found multiple policy violations and alleged misconduct, CBS News said.
Caldwell stepped down when a report concluded there was credible evidence of sexual harassment and ethics violations, the Inquirer. com reported. Two days after his resignation, Caldwell delivered a sermon warning congregants about false accusations, the New Jersey Globe noted.
