Jackson Police Chief Declares Tasia Fortune Hanging Was Staged Homicide
Jackson Police Chief RaShall Brackney said on 28 September that the death of 29-year-old Tasia Fortune was a homicide staged to mislead investigators and announced that additional arrests and conspiracy charges are expected. The investigation began after Fortune’s body was found hanging behind an abandoned home on 22 September.
Detectives later concluded she had been killed in a drug-related dispute and her body was placed on a tree to appear as a hanging. Authorities have since taken two men into custody, issued a warrant for a third suspect, and on 28 September arrested Eric Clark, charging him with murder, while two other men already face murder charges.
