Meta launches Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 smart glasses with longer battery and new frames
Meta unveiled the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 smart glasses at its Connect 2026 event, featuring a modest battery boost, an extra microphone, two new frame designs and a price of $449, according to Engadget. Earlier in the event, Meta refreshed its Ray-Ban smart-glasses portfolio with camera-free audio glasses, a lower-cost Adventurer model and introduced a tethered VR glasses system, as reported by The Verge. In the weeks before Connect, a blog author from The Ghost Howls predicted that Meta would reveal a lightweight mixed-reality headset called Phoenix and new smart-glasses, while Engadget noted that Meta planned holographic avatars powered by its Muse Realtime Avatar model for upcoming glasses and displays, and The Verge described a separate VR glasses concept using a pocket-sized processing puck slated for spring 2027.
