Commanders QB Jayden Daniels to Miss Weeks After Elbow Dislocation
Washington Commanders announced on September 29 that quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss several weeks after re-dislocating his left elbow at AT&T Stadium, and backup Marcus Mariota will start in his place. Coach Dan Quinn said Daniels suffered the injury on the final play of the first half of the September 20 game against the Dallas Cowboys, re-dislocating his non-throwing elbow and prompting Mariota to take over in the second half.
The team later sent Daniels to a specialist for imaging and ruled out surgery, with general manager Adam Peters confirming he will not be placed on injured reserve. Hall of Fame quarterback Kurt Warner suggested Daniels might be able to play through the injury, while teammates refuted social-media claims that they had abandoned him on the sideline.
