Inmate alleges denial of $558,000 trust payout amid murder case

Nick Reiner, a Los Angeles inmate awaiting trial on murder charges, said he has been denied a $558,000 distribution from a $1. 6 million family trust that became payable when he turned 30.

Earlier, his attorneys filed a civil motion seeking access to at least $325,000 of the trust, arguing that California’s Slayer Statute does not apply because the money is not derived from his parents. Reiner also contended that the portion of the inheritance coming from his grandfather should not be barred, and prosecutors have opted not to pursue the death penalty in his case.
