Study finds T. rex body temperature similar to modern elephants
Researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County reported that analysis of fossilized T. rex teeth indicated an average body temperature of about 97 °F (36 °C), comparable to modern humans and elephants. Earlier reports from the same team, described in an Ars Technica article, noted that clumped isotope thermometry on three teeth yielded a similar temperature estimate, higher than that of contemporary crocodilians.
A Yahoo piece later highlighted the findings, emphasizing that the warm-blooded interpretation supports the view of T. rex as an active predator.
