U.S. Justice Department Indicts Russian Operatives for Washington Murder Plot
The U. S. Department of Justice unsealed an indictment charging five alleged Russian intelligence operatives with a conspiracy to surveil and kill a Russian dissident in Washington, D. C. , filing the case in Manhattan federal court.
Federal investigators had earlier said the plot involved recruiting people in the United States and Europe to monitor and murder individuals linked to Ukraine. U. S. prosecutors subsequently indicted the five suspects, describing the network as planning attacks on dissidents and infrastructure in the United States and Europe.
