Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson placed on injured reserve after Week 1 performance

Philadelphia Eagles veteran left guard Landon Dickerson will miss at least four weeks after being placed on injured reserve following a self-admitted poor showing in the season opener.

Philadelphia’s left guard Landon Dickerson said he felt he was a "complete liability" in the team’s opening game and recommended that he be placed on injured reserve to recover fully. He explained that a lingering injury, which was finally imaged after the game, had limited his effectiveness and that he preferred a proper recovery rather than playing through pain as he did last season.

"I was a complete liability yesterday. Again, that was my fault. I know I said earlier in camp I shouldn’t be out there until I feel healthy… The best plan going forward is to put me on IR so I can get this thing better and have a good stretch at the back end of the season."

Eagles coach Jeff Stoutland praised Dickerson’s physical attributes, noting his size and power allow him to move defenders off the line of scrimmage. While acknowledging occasional lapses, Stoutland highlighted Dickerson’s contributions to the team’s success.

"What you see with Landon is his extreme power. He’s a big man who’s able to move guys off the spot… We’ve won a ton of games with Landon, and there’s a lot of good things that he can do."

Dickerson’s injury status will keep him out for a minimum of four weeks, and the team will look to other linemen to fill the void while he rehabilitates.
