Apple CEO Ternus defends iPhone Duo design and AI strategy
Apple chief executive John Ternus said in a Canal+ interview that the iPhone Duo’s design choices were driven by durability and user experience, that Siri remains a tool rather than a companion, and that the company does not foresee a radical shift in its product strategy. He emphasized that the foldable device’s features reflect Apple’s incremental approach to innovation. Left-handed users have criticized the side-mounted Touch ID and other controls for favoring right-handed operation. A tech blogger discovered an optional black border on the left side of the screen to improve case compatibility.
Pre-release videos showed a split-keyboard layout, one-handed typing, landscape multitasking, and new camera functions. Apple’s vice president of hardware engineering Tom Marieb explained the hinge’s torque profile and the matte nano-texture screen designed to reduce glare and keep the fold crease less noticeable. Early hands-on impressions noted the solid build, matte inner screen, and a tendency for the dark finish to attract fingerprints.
