Seahawks seek multiple medical opinions on Sam Darnold's glute injury
Seattle is obtaining four medical assessments of quarterback Sam Darnold's tendon injury, ruling him out of the Week 2 game and leaving his return timeline uncertain.
Seattle Seahawks officials said the team is consulting four independent physicians to evaluate quarterback Sam Darnold's tendon injury in his glute, which was initially feared to be a fractured hip socket. The additional assessments are intended to clarify how long Darnold will miss and to guide his rehabilitation plan.
"Seattle is gathering four second opinions regarding the injury suffered on Wednesday night by quarterback Sam Darnold," reported Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
The team confirmed Darnold will sit out the upcoming Week 2 matchup against Arizona, and his availability for subsequent games remains undetermined. Backup quarterback Drew Lock is expected to start in Darnold's absence, with rookie Jalen Milroe also on the roster as a potential option.
