Elon Musk Documentary Moves Up Release After Festival Premiere
Deadline reported that the Alex Gibney-directed documentary “Musk” moved its U. S. theatrical release up by a week after strong interest and a recent Toronto International Film Festival premiere. Earlier, at the Toronto International Film Festival, Gibney said Elon Musk did not respond to multiple requests for comment after his legal team sent a cease-and-desist letter, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Slate noted that the four-hour film, also screened at the Venice Film Festival, traces Musk’s rise from Zip2 and PayPal to SpaceX and Tesla and highlights legal disputes and personal relationships. The documentary features interviews with former partners; Justine Musk described emotional abuse and accused Musk of gaslighting, as reported by The Daily Beast, TMZ, Page Six and Newser. Additionally, Variety reported that Ashley St. Clair declined a $40 million non-disclosure agreement to appear in the film, citing a desire to model truth-telling for her children.
