U.S. Bans Canadian Motorcycles, Dairy, Alcohol Amid Trade Dispute
The White House announced on 8 September that the United States will prohibit imports of selected Canadian motorcycles, most alcoholic beverages and dairy products beginning 29 September, citing ongoing trade tensions with Canada. The ban follows a series of escalations that began when the Canadian government said it would impose tariffs on roughly $20 billion of U. S. goods, covering about 6 % of American exports, after Washington levied 50 % tariffs on Canadian products.
President Donald Trump had earlier warned aircraft maker Bombardier that it must relocate production to the United States or lose market access. In response, Canadian officials said they would accelerate diversification away from the U. S. market.
